The Resurrections Part 3

John 4:21-24

21        Jesus said unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour comes, when you shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.

22        You worship you know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.

23        But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeks such to worship him.

24        God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Jesus the Messias was speaking to a Samaritan woman he had met on his way into Galilee.  He not only revealed that God must be worshipped according to the truth.  He also revealed that God would be worshipped in spirit and that he seeks those who will do so.  Since men and women are made of flesh and can only understand through the five senses.  How is it possible to worship God in spirit?  To answer this question it is helpful to understand how God administers his power.

1 John 5:7

7          For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

The Apostle John reveals there are three that work in unity in Heaven the Father who is God.  The Holy Ghost also called the Holy Spirit of God and the Word.  John revealed in his gospel record that the Word was made flesh and came to this earth.  He was speaking of Jesus the Messias the Christ sent from God.  John also revealed that God created the earth and its universe by him.

John 1:1-3 & 14

1          In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2          The same was in the beginning with God.

3          All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

14        And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

Genesis 1:1-2 & 26

1          In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

2          And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

26        And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.

This account of the creation given to Moses by God verifies what the Apostle John wrote over a thousand years later.  What Moses revealed is Gods creation of the heavens and earth was by the Word and his Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit or Ghost is present to work all things that would be considered miraculous by mankind.  Here in Genesis it is Gods Holy Spirit that moved upon the face of the waters in the creation of our earth.  Some further examples of how God used his Holy Spirit throughout history help in understanding the administration of Gods power.

Judges 15:11-15

11        Then three thousand men of Judah went to the top of the rock Etam, and said to Samson, Know you not that the Philistines are rulers over us? what is this that you have done unto us? And he said unto them, As they did unto me, so have I done unto them.

12        And they said unto him, We are come down to bind you, that we may deliver you into the hand of the Philistines. And Samson said unto them, Swear unto me, that you will not fall upon me yourselves.

13        And they spoke unto him, saying, No; but we will bind you fast, and deliver you into their hand: but surely we will not kill you. And they bound him with two new cords, and brought him up from the rock.

14        And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands.

15        And he found a new jawbone of an ass, and put forth his hand, and took it, and slew a thousand men there with.

When the Holy Spirit of God came upon Samson he had the strength not only to break loose from his bonds but also to slay a thousand of the enemies of God.

1 Samuel 10:9-10

9          And it was so, that when he had turned his back to go from Samuel, God gave him another heart: and all those signs came to pass that day.

10        And when they came there to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them.

Saul the first king to the Israelites prophesied when the Holy Spirit of God came upon him.

Joel 2:27-29

27        And you shall know that I am in the midst of Israel, and that I am the Lord your God, and none else: and my people shall never be ashamed.

28        And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:

29        And also upon the servants and upon the handmaids in those days will I pour out my spirit.

Understanding then that Gods Holy Spirit works his will to enable a man or woman to do what is impossible for them to do.  It is now possible to understand how God can be worshipped in spirit. His power can be administered through the Holy Spirit enabling a man or woman to worship God in spirit.  A prophet sent to the Israelites named Joel prophesied that in the days of the Messias.  God would pour out his Holy Spirit upon men and women of all nations.

John 3:1-8

1          There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:

2          The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that you are a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that you do, except God be with him.

3          Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

4          Nicodemus said unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

5          Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

6          That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

7          Marvel not that I said unto you, You must be born again.

8          The wind blows where it lists, and you hear the sound there of, but cannot tell from where it comes, and to where it goes: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

Jesus taught Nicodemus a man or woman must be born again of the water and the Holy Spirit of God, to see, and enter the kingdom of God. Only then can he be worshipped in spirit and in truth.  Those that have not been born again into Gods kingdom by water and his Holy Spirit remain in Satan's kingdom.

John 14:15-17

15        If you love me, keep my commandments.

16        And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;

17        Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it sees him not, neither knows him: but you know him; for he dwells with you, and shall be in you.

To all those who believe and obey the commandments Jesus spoke.  God will give his Holy Spirit to dwell in them making it possible for him to abide in them.  To guide them into the truth of his words, comfort and strengthen them, in the times of trial and temptation.

John 7:37-39

37        In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink.

38        He that believes on me, as the scripture has said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

39        (But this spoke he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

The Apostle John records that Jesus the Messias declared he would be the one to administer the Holy Spirit.  John also revealed that this would not take place until Jesus was resurrected and given all power in Heaven and earth by God his Father.  After Jesus the Messias was resurrected and had ascended back into Heaven.  Peter his chosen Apostle stood up before thousands of men and women in the city of Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost.  He preached Jesus had been made both Lord and Messias or Christ.

Acts 2:36-39

36        Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God has made that same Jesus, whom you have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

37        Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?

38        Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

39        For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call.

Peter taught them to be born again of the water and the Holy Spirit of God.  In part four of the Resurrections more of what Jesus the Messias revealed will be provided.  Please take the time to read it and examine his words.
